A guitar is a stringed musical instrument
played with the fingers, or a plectrum
(guitar pick).
The sound is produced by vibrating strings.
Guitars have a body (hollow in acoustic
guitars, solid in most electric
guitars) and a neck. Typically,
a headstock extends from the neck for
tuning.
Guitars may be acoustic,
electric
(i.e. with electrical amplification)
or both.
Guitars are used in a wide variety
of musical styles. They are made and
repaired by luthiers.
